Barcelona has a wide range of attractions for tourists. Its home to the temple designed by Antonio Gaudi which has been in construction since 1882. The building is brown in color and has a very intricate design. The temple widely known as the Sagrada Familiar is expected to be under construction for at least another 30 years depending on availability of resources this could possibly extend to 80 years. There is also the Barcelona Aquarium at Port Vell which is a favourite for many children. It showcases a wide spectrum of hydro life.
The Poble Espanyol or the Spanish village encompasses workshops and craft shops which stock traditionally made Spanish crafts. This village has different quarters that borrow from the various styles of house architecture throughout Spain in addition to hosting the famous Flamenco show at tablao de Carmen. The La Padrera or quarry formerly known as Casa Mila is one of Antonio Gaudi’s works that has wavy brick work and colorful tiles.
For football fans Barcelona’s treat for them is the Barcelona FC museum where there are pictures of the soccer greats, their statues and trophies. Once you purchase a ticket, you can choose to use it to get into the museum or go behind the scenes at the club to see the changing rooms and the VIP area or if you are a die hard fan you could just buy tickets for both. There’s also the Barcelona zoo which has a wide variety of animals on show, a restaurant, picnic area, electric chairs and a mini train. The zoo is at Parc de la CIutadella.
For art lovers there’s the Barcelona Picasso museum that has arranged Picasso’s paintings in chronological order from the earliest to the latest painting which give the observer insight into the development of Picasso’s work. This art gallery is world renowned.
The IMAX cinema which neighbors the Barcelona Aquarium gives one a fascinating 3 dimensional movie experience. There’s the Miro museum that displays Miros work from 1914. This collection is rather vast and it includes tapestries and a good selection of sculptures, early sketches and paintings.
There’s the National Museum of Art of Catalunya, the magic fountain of Montjuic and of course Barcelona’s most famous street, the Las Ramblas.
